More pictures from the end of June '08

Here's some more pictures from around the site during the end of June.

End of June '08 ~ Pictures of the inside of the basement

Here are some pictures from the inside of where the basement will be. We are now getting ready and awaiting the forms from A-Plus Lumber. PJ's been out there everyday getting the stakes and everything right so that when they do come, they will be ready to go to put them in place. He's also had the task of realigning the garage part, now that the basement's been dug. Sometime this week the forms and styrofoam bricks should arrive and we'll be hard at work putting those together. Larry will be joining us in a week to make that process go quicker. It's always nice to have extra hands!

Mid-June '08...digging the basement out

After the driveway was cleared, Phil was able to bring the skid steer and excavator over to do some heavy duty digging. All in all, it didn't take as long as I thought. Phil and PJ were out there working hard to get it done. Benjamin and I visited when we could. Ben is certainly finding his way around the big sand piles and had lots of fun watching Grandpa work in his big 'toys'.

Beginning of June...the driveway is cleared

Here are some pictures from Bill Anderson Rd. It started raining for a bit so we opted not to get possibly stuck in the mud and took some pictures from inside the car on the road.

More Pictures of the Pole Building

Here are a few more pictures of the pole building.

Last Summer's Pole Building Project

The pictures shown above are of last summer and the construction of our pole building. The pole building now stands where the old homestead used to be. It was pretty amazing seeing it go up. We are thankful for all the people who helped out during this project, especially Phil, Larry, Eugene and Louie. Benjamin also tried to be a big helper...he loves helping out his daddy, grandpas and great grandpas! =)

A look back....

The above pictures are from last spring, from the old homestead before it was knocked/taken down. It was really interesting because I'm told that the bricks were hand-made from the clay in the area by PJ's relatives and some of the bricks are now still in usable condition. What's really neat is that some of the bricks still have visual fingerprints imbedded in them. We plan on using the bricks that we've saved for something decorative for the house. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.
